Places to visit

Barranco de las Vacas
This other-worldly attraction is located in the East of the island and is worth a visit if you're in the area. It's a slot canyon, located at the entrance to the Barranco de Guayadeque ravine, and it's a great opportunity for exploration. The canyon changes colours as the sun hits it throughout the day, so you've got a good chance of getting some brilliant holiday snaps.
You can access the canyon along the GC-550 from Agüimes to Temisas and either park in the laybys or get dropped off. Then it's just a short hike to the entrance of the slot canyon, and you might spot a friendly lizard or two along the way! Expect to spend around an hour walking to and exploring the canyon. Unfortunately, such a pretty place can often get crowded, so we suggest arriving early to find a good parking spot and to snap some great pictures whilst it's quiet. Take water and sensible shoes and do your research before setting off.
Whilst you're in the area, why not visit the town of Agüimes, with its quaint historic quarter. Pretty houses line the streets and you may come across an excellent statue... of a camel!
Cactualdea Park
If you’re into your plants, this place will be right up your orchard. The largest cactus theme park in Europe, Cactualdea Park, is home to over 1,000 types of cacti and feels more like a spectacular natural art gallery than a garden.
Unfussed peacocks, tortoises and donkeys roam the park and you can visit the Bar Cafeteria for a refreshment on your wander round. Plus, there's a souvenir shop where you can bag some goodies for any plant-fanatic friends back home.
Puerto de Mogán
This place is one for the ‘gram. Pretty Puerto de Mogán has been dubbed the “Venice of the Canaries” for its scenic canals and postcard-perfect marina. And because there are no large hotels, the centre has kept its traditional charm, with its white-washed houses and the fishermen’s colourful boats bobbing in the bay.
Want to see something spectacular? Make the short walk up to Mirador de Puerto de Mogán for stunning views of the surrounding coastline. For the best views, head up at sunset with a couple of cervezas. Simply stunning.

British passport holders don’t need a visa to travel to Gran Canaria for under 90 days.
