When it comes to the perfect city hotel, you probably don't really care about finding a hotel that does it all. You don't need a super-fancy spa or an animation team getting you involved in pool games or five different kids' clubs packed with activities. (Or maybe you do, you do you). What you really care about is the location, if the breakfast is a gooden and if the beds are proper comfy so you get a decent kip after a long day of exploring.

So, we've done the leg work and picked three of our fave spots in the city, offering bangin' deals. Just ask Matthew - he works in our Data Team. Matthew just spent four days exploring Barcelona and staying in the Acta Atrium Palace. Not only was breakfast "very good" (a man of many words, our Matthew) but the hotel even provided adapters, had "the best blackout blinds" and even offered complimentary cava. We'll say 'cheers' to that!

Oh, you thought we were a one-beach pony? That's cute. And false. Not that we blame you. Kind of put our foot in it with that one, but On the Beach has a much better ring to it than On the Beach (and sometimes in the city), don't ya think? Everyone knows we've got a soft spot for the sand and sea action, but that doesn't mean we can't swap our flip-flops for walking boots once in a while. Whether you fancy living out your Chandler and Monica fantasies in New York, eating spaghetti for brekkie in Rome, or soaking up some culture (and a cheeky Thai massage) in Bangkok - we've got you. Holidays to Paris

Pack your beret and prepare to say bonjour to the city of lights. Swing by in summer when it's all open-air cinemas and picnics with baguettes and brie, or dash off in winter for all the festive feels, with cosy Christmas markets and snowy walks along the Seine for some of the cutest scenery you've ever...well, Seine. (We had to, give us a break.) The good news is, whether you're off with the fam or it's just you and boo for some quality couple time, Paris holidays always bring the sparkle (especially if you catch the Eiffel Tower at just the right moment). Also, you'll never be more than 10 feet from a flaky croissant. It's a 'oui' from us 🥐

Holidays to Rome

Go big or go home? We'd rather go to Rome. If, like us, you fancy swapping beaches for bruschetta, just make sure you pack your comfiest Crocs, because you're gonna want to see, do and taste everything. Trust us. An Italy holiday like this is all gelato stops, authentic Carbonara (all egg, no cream) and Trevi Fountain wishes. Hop over in summer for film festivals and jazz vibes, or wrap up in winter for Christmas market season - there's never a bad time to visit Roma.

Holidays to Amsterdam

Amsterdam's kind of like the adult version of Disneyland. Instead of Mickey Mouse you've got Van Gogh, instead of pretzels shaped like cartoons you've got stroopwafels, and instead of a theme park you've got sex museums and quirky coffee shops. And if you want to feel like a true local? On your bike. No, really - that's how most people get around over here. It's like the Tour de France but with more canals and less spandex. Whether you're coming for the history, the food or the...should we say... *interesting* culture, there's one thing for sure - you're gonna be in for a 'Dam good time 🚲

Holidays to New York

Sadly Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Joey aren't included with these holidays - but you can catch sight of the exterior apartment block if you pivot over to 90 Bedford Street, so it's not all bad. And if you don't have a clue about anything we just said, then 1) do yourself a favour and watch an episode of Friends, and 2) there's plenty more to New York than that. Like Broadway shows, pizza slices bigger than your face, and viewpoints that'll bring you close to spewing up your American breakfast. And don't even get us STARTED on all the Christmas decs during winter season. It's like stepping straight into a Hallmark movie, cheesy ice skating included. So, you in? We'll NYC you there ⛸️

Holidays to Bangkok

Any city that does the weekly shop by boat instead of car is always gonna be a star in our eyes. Come on, that's way more fun than driving to the local Aldi. And yes - you might not have a beach here - but you will have a buzzing city centre to get lost in, loads of pretty landmarks to slap on your Insta story, and an endless supply of streetside Pad Thai to slurp on. Bangkok's the kind of place where markets are floating on water, temples are covered in gold and rooftop bars are so high they come with a side of vertigo. These hotels are just a few of many, so if you've got your eye on a holiday to Thailand, quit hanging about and tuk-tuk in.

Holidays to Madrid

Spain's sunny capital brings the sass all year round. Madrid is the place where sangria flows like water, and siestas are basically part of the religion. And trust us, you'll need it, because early nights don't exist here. Dinner at 10PM? Totally normal 'round these parts. Book a jolly to this hotspot, and you're in for airy art museums, more landmarks than you can shake a selfie stick at, and endless flamenco - which is basically just Zumba, but with more flair and better outfits 💃

Holidays to Las Vegas

Yep, Las Vegas is a city. We checked. And then double-checked. In fact, it's so into the city vibes, that it's even got a bunch of hotels themed around some of the most iconic cities around - from New York New York with its big ol' Statue of Liberty out front, to PARIS LAS VEGAS with a fake Eiffel Tower outside. It's not quite as big as the real thing, but you still won't miss it. Vegas isn't all about glitzy hotels, Elvis elopements and hitting the slots, though. You've also got museums to explore, canyons to climb and BIG portions of American grub to get your mitts on. It's giving...balance. We think you've hit the jackpot there 🎰

Holidays to Dubai

OK, maybe we're cheating a bit now. But Dubai is a city - Google it if you don't believe us! Or just take a look at those skyscrapers. It's got city written all over it. It's also technically an emirate, which means...well, no one really knows what it means. We've included this one specifically for you lot who are physically and emotionally incapable of being more than a hop, skip and a bellyflop away from the beach - because we get it. So you can get your big city vibes here and plonk down on a private beach if you feel like it. Get you a destination that does both.

Great question! The good news is, when it comes to city breaks with us, you've got options. Here's an extra taste of what we've got up our T-shirt sleeve...

Athens

Athens holidays are all about the sightseeing, with an easily-walkable centre that's packed with history, made up of cute little neighbourhoods that all have their own look and feel. You've got national gardens to explore (ideal for catching a bit of shade - and for spotting tortoises!), street food carts where you can sample delish local favourites like sesame bread and sugar doughnuts, iconic sites like the Acropolis to visit, hop-on-hop-off buses to get you around, and plenty of rooftop bars and viewpoints to soak up those sunsets. Oh, and if you're not quite ready to go totally beach-free (we understand), the sandy stuff is just a bus or metro ride away.

Venice

Known for its pastel-toned buildings, adorable gelato shops and network of canals (you're gonna be best friends with a gondola by the time you leave), Venice holidays are the perfect pick for a city break that's pretty as a picture. You'll have beaut architecture to admire, traditional squares to explore, and even a few festivals to get you in the party spirit if you time it right. Plus, the Venice Lido has your beach needs covered with a stretch of sandy shore to kick back on. What a win.

Milan

If the fashion capital of the world isn't on your city break bucketlist, then what are you doing?! We're kidding, obviously - we already know you're daydreaming about beaches. Why else would you be here? Well, what Milan holidays lack in sand and sea, they make up for in glam shopping malls, gorg castles and cathedrals, swanky art galleries and DELISH charcuterie boards that'll put whatever you've seen on Pinterest to shame. With a cheeky Aperol on the side of course, because why not? 🍹

Florence

Nope, not and the Machine - just a super-underrated city in the Tuscan part of Italy. Florence holidays often fall to the bottom of the list when it comes to city breaks in Italy, but it's got so much to offer! From its terracotta buildings to central markets, traditional palazzos, culture-packed art galleries and photo-worthy bridges, there's adventure at every turn. Not to mention all the rooftop bars so you can relax with a Negroni as the sun dips down. Now that's heaven.

Marrakech

So you thought city breaks were all about cool climates and Christmas markets? Think again. Marrakech holidays are where it's at for a scorcher of a city break, with all-singing, all-dancing hotels, maze-like souks selling a bit of everything (literally), huge waterparks to get your heart racing, and even a cactus farm to explore. That's something different for the ol' bucketlist! Plus, there's bags of history to explore, and the nightlife brings all the good vibes after dark.

Barcelona

If beach holidays and city breaks had a baby, this is what it'd look like. Holidays to Barcelona bring the best of both worlds, with a history-rich city centre (think cobbled walkways, traditional tapas bars and intricate architecture), alongside a handful of beaches to keep your sandy cravings at bay. Whether you're shopping 'til you drop down Las Ramblas, getting lost in the gorg mosaics of Park Guell, or getting your football fix at good ol' Camp Nou - there's literally something for everyone here. Istanbul

If we had to pay you £1 for every time we spoke about Turkey, we'd be in serious trouble with our Finance department. Thankfully, that's not the case, and we just flippin' love Turkey jollies. Istanbul holidays swap the activity-packed hotels and mega waterparks for a more traditional feel - with authentic markets, guided tours, delish street food (if you didn't have at least one Turkish pizza, then did you even go to Turkey?), and a bustling centre that's full of culture. Don't worry, you can still take it slow with a traditional hammam treatment while you're here - AKA: a steamy, soapy scrub-down that'll have you feeling like a new you.

Prague

Prague holidays are *the* main character of city breaks, dishing up the perfect combo of tradition and hip. Pack comfy shoes, because you're gonna want to do a lot of exploring here, from the ancient bridges and hidden courtyards to the Old Town Square where the iconic Astronomical Clock stands. Stop by in winter for all the glittery festive vibes with fairylights and Christmas markets, and you can even top the day off with a pint (this is Prague, after all), and a comforting bowl of traditional stew, like svíčková. Oh, and for all you hardcore beer fans, there are even spas where you can bathe in the stuff here. Cheers to that? We think 🍻

Vienna

Doesn't matter if you're a foodie, a history geek, an art snob - or all three! - Vienna holidays have you covered for your city break. You've got the majestic palace vibes, the gorg gardens just waiting to be explores, and the cute cafés where you can sip coffee and look all cool while you pretend to be a local (don't deny it, we know you've done it). There's even a zoo if the kiddos need something to keep them entertained, and the public transport system is TOP-TIER, so getting out and about is an absolute doddle. Just how we like it.

Copenhagen

Soak up all those cool Scandi vibes with one of our holidays to Copenhagen. We're talking chic boutiques on every corner for all your shopping needs, a 24-hour metro system to get you from A to B (and C and D), cosy cafés for the perfect pitstop, plenty of historic sites (from churches to castles), and loads to do with the kiddos, whether it's hitting up Northern Europe's largest aquarium (humble brag), or checking out the city's zoo which houses everything from polar bears to pandas. A tad different to the rainy drive through the wildlife park back home.

Budapest

Come for the George Ezra reference, stay for the soul-warming goulash, walks along the Danube River, relaxing thermal baths and iconic 'Ruin Bars' - your one-way ticket to cheap drinks in a weirdly wonderful setting. Budapest holidays are the ultimate culture-packed city break, so expect colourful streets full of quirky artwork, epic castles, a magical Christmas market scene (in December, obvs), and local eats that'll have you asking for the recipe. Once you get your mouth around lángos, there's no going back. Just saying.

Krakow

If you're on the hunt for a city break that still feeds the nature-loving part of your soul, then prepare to wave a big, cheery hello to Krakow holidays. This place is all about the cobbled town squares, the fantastical legends, the traditional markets, the nature reserves (five of 'em, to be exact), and - of course - the pierogis. You can even treat yourself to the ultimate bit of self-care at one of the thermal baths, take your insides for a spin at Energylandia theme park (we recommend this one before the pierogis), and have your main character moment at the Father Bernatek Footbridge with its railings full of padlocks.

Dublin

Looking for a proper good city break that’s buzzing with charm, history, and a cheeky pint or two? Dublin’s got you covered! Whether you're strolling along the River Liffey, soaking up the rich history at Trinity College, or diving into the lively pubs of Temple Bar, this city is popping off with culture and craic. Fancy a bit of the boujee life? The swanky boutiques and delish dining in Grafton Street will sort you right out. Plus, the Guinness tastes top-tier in its homeland – fact! Dublin holidays mean you can pack a whopper of a weekend full of memories, and still feel like you’ve just scratched the surface. Bosh, Dublin done right!
