Vilamoura’s two main beaches: Praia de Vilamoura and Praia de Falésia are separated by the marina that sits at the heart of this Mediterranean town. Praia de Falésia’s wide golden sands stretch along to the next town for over six kilometres, running alongside some of the most scenic cliffs of this coastal region. It’s a great place for an afternoon hike and there’s a handful of beach bars you can stop off at for a cheeky cocktail on your return. On the other side of town, the Praia de Vilamoura offers more crisp soft sands and twinkling clear waters. It’s located next to many of the big hotels and offers a great range of facilities so it’s always a hit with holidaymakers.

The fascinating Cerro da Vila Roman ruins have been preserved for thousands of years. There’s a little museum route that takes you through the site with all the info you need and you can spot some super interesting tiles that were only discovered in 1963.
The Aquashow Park offers a huge range of thrilling slides and pools to explore. Take a ride on the wild water coaster, kick back on the lazy river or try out one of the double-ringed waterslides -this place is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
If you feel like a little Portuguese adventure to soak up a spot of culture on your travels, then take the short hop to Loulé. This picturesque little village is less touristy than the by-the-beach towns, so it’s a great way to get a better glimpse into the local way of life here. Whilst you’re here be sure to check out the Fonte do Cadoiço waterfall, the Loulé Saturday Market and the Bicas Velhas heritage site.
Vilamoura is the ideal holiday destination for culture vultures. The town hosts several events throughout the year, including the Vilamoura International Sailing Competition and the International Almond Cross-Country Track Events in February, the International Horse Jumping Event in June and the International Horse Jumping Event in July. The town is also home to the Museum of Cerro da Vila and Roman ruins including ancient baths.
As the sun sets, the marina comes to life with neon lights and disco tunes. From Irish bars to classy cocktail venues and laid-back beachside lounges, lively Vilamoura nightlife offers something for everyone. The town is also home to a huge casino that’s a big attraction here. Get dressed up and roll the dice for a night of slots and cards – it could just be your lucky evening.
