Weather in Cancun in January

Can you hear that? It's the sound of Cancun laughing at the absolute state of the weather at home right now. If you're sick of sniffly nose and soggy sock season (who isn't?), then a holiday to Mexico is just the thing to warm your cockles. It's prime dry season in Cancun, averaging a toasty 23°C, with...wait for it - highs of 28°C. Meaning, you can swap the 8-hour shift for 8 hours of sun (we can practically see the tan lines from here), and the sea stays at a bath-like 27°C, so you can stay snug as a bug during your dunk. Disclaimer: you won't even need your Lush bath bomb to enjoy this one.

Of course, with tropical vibes comes a tropical climate, so rain isn't totally unheard of, but before you get your coconuts in a twist - we're talking 6mm over the course of the WHOLE winter season. Which, let's be honest, is nothing to us Brits 😎 Plus, if you're into beach jollies (why else would you be here?), then Cape Verde's got plenty of places for you to flop down a towel, including the beaut Praia de Chaves with sand that's more pillowy than scratchy. You'll also still get a good 6-7 hours of sun per day, so that's PLENTY of time to dive into your beach read about all the different shades of grey 🏖️

Where else can you go on a January holiday?

Are holidays cheaper in January?

We already love this question, because the answer is YES! You're travelling outside of peak season, which means prices are typically a bit on the lower side, and January is actually recognised as the cheapest month to jet off in. What a winner.

Where is best for winter sun in January?

We can't blame you for wanting to swap frostbite for flip-flops, and thankfully there are a bunch of places where you can still get your tan on. For tropical, drinking-from-coconuts vibes, you've got places like Cape Verde, Thailand and the Caribbean. And of course, the Canaries are always a safe bet too, because they stay nice and toasty all year round. We love to see it.

Where to go on holiday in January?

Totally depends what you vibe is, but we've got a bit of everything to keep you covered. If you're looking for somewhere where you can slather on the Factor 50 and catch some rays, then Caribbean destinations like Jamaica and Barbados are top picks, or - for something a smidge more budget-friendly - the Canaries stay sunny all year round, too.

If you're still in your festive feels, then a city break might be more up your street, with places like Rome, Paris and Prague serving up iconic sights with cosy winter vibes.
