Beaches

On the south west of the island, and reachable only by boat, Egremni beach is a beautifully secluded shore, perfect for a day of relaxation in the Greek sunshine. Nearby, Porto Katsiki is a stunning coved beach with terrific views, making it a particular hit with the tourists. In the north western region, Kathisma beach is a spacious shore with plenty of amenities, a fantastic choice for a comfortable day at the seaside. For the more adventurous holiday-makers, the Kalamitsi beaches may be harder to reach but worthwhile for the vivid blue waters you’ll experience.

Nydri Waterfalls

Wander through the lush greenery, whilst admiring the mountainous terrain and discovering the Dimossari Waterfalls. Taking approximately an hour to walk to from Nydri, the trek offers a taste of the island’s countryside whilst the waterfalls are pockets of tranquillity, great for taking a dip in peace.

Wherever you are in Lefkada, there’s a piece of history within easy reach, as the quiet, untouched landscapes offer uninhibited glimpses into the island’s past. From the 14th Century Fortress of Agia Mavra to the farmhouse in Poros - dating all the way back to the 3rd or 4th Century BC - the island’s ancient ruins are interesting in both sight and story.
Nightlife
In the north of the island around Lefkada town, the lively evenings can be spent in bars and clubs such as Capital Nightclub, Joy Bar and Taratsa Open. Known as the island’s buzzing port, Nydri has a sea of social venues to choose from, including the hidden gem Tree Bar and the elegant de Blanck Wine and Champagne Bar - a treat whether you’re a wine connoisseur, or if you just simply fancy sampling the local tipple. In the southern town of Vasiliki, the Garden Cafe-Cocktail Bar is renowned for its delightfully tasty range of cocktails, which can be enjoyed by the scenic waterfront.
Food & Drink
As it is with most Mediterranean dishes, olive oil is a big part of the island’s cuisine, with olive cultivation being a large percentage of Lefkada’s agriculture. Plus, you can visit one of the many farms are see how it’s made for yourselves. Next up is the mouth-wateringly fresh seafood and fish, such as tuna and mussels, which are typically found around the ports and Tavernas. The typical Greek mezzes, like tzatziki, stuffed vine leaves and taromosalata, are also a popular choice on the island, of course.
