Samos is known as ‘The Green Aegean Island', and is a favourite holiday destination for those who love beautiful beaches, pine-clad mountains, rolling olive groves, vineyards, museums, night clubs and bars all wrapped up into one amazing holiday!

For those who want to do nothing more than fly and flop, the eighth biggest Greek island is full of fabulous beaches where you can relax and top up your sun tan.

After something more active? Scenic walking trails link the picture perfect hill towns of Vourliotes, Stavrinide and Manolates making for a magical day away from the beach. For a dose of culture, check out the ruins of the ancient temple of Hera and also the engineering wonder of Evpalineio, the ancient aqueduct.

During the evenings, head to one of Samos' many restaurants and taverns to gorge on Greek fare like 'kes-kes', a dish whipped up with the use of wheat and served with loukoumades or Greek doughnuts , washed down with a glass or two of world famous sweet Samian wine.

All in all, the Green Aegean Island is one of Greece's top treats, but don't just take our word for it: book an amazing holiday to Samos with On the Beach and see for yourself!

Samos has an amazing Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters.

During the summer months of July and August you are unlikely to find any rain and a huge amount of sunshine with up to fourteen hours per day in July. Temperatures range from 29°C in June up to 31°C in July and August however the nights do bring an escape from the heat dropping to approximately 17°C.

Autumn sees the temperature suddenly drop in Samos, with October still being bright and hot at 22°C however November dipping to just 18°C and the likelihood of rain increasing dramatically. This leads to winter, from December until February being cool and wet- definitely not suitable for a sunny beach holiday due to the weathers unpredictability.

The spring, starting in March until May sees the rainfall dropping and the sunshine rising to temperatures of 20-24°C so is a good time to visit Samos if you don't want a scalding holiday!
