If you're wondering where to start, here are a few of (what we think are) the top beaches in Costa Blanca:

Playa de Levante – stretching for more than 2km, this popular sand spot in the capital is a hit with families thanks to its beach bars, sun loungers, play areas and watersports.
Playa de San Juan – a long, sandy beach in Alicante with clusters of surrounding bars and restaurants, a children's playground, a choice of watersports and sloping sands that lead into the warm Mediterranean Sea.
Playa de La Fossa – the second-biggest beach in Calpe, famous for its powdery sands, seafront promenade and its rugged, limestone outcrop that juts from the sea, making for a spectacular view.
Playa de la Albufereta – a smaller, rocky beach lined with palm trees for natural shade, and it's accessible via tram directly from Alicante, so getting here is a doddle.
Platja de les Rotes – the perfect spot if you're looking for something sweet and simple away from the crowds, with a rocky bay, a footpath and crystal clear waters which are ideal for snorkelling.

Culture
With over 200 kilometres of coastline, the Costa Blanca is rich in culture, and in parts is very typically Spanish. The cobbled streets of the old town in Altea with its domed blue and white church is just one example of the country's heritage preserved today, attracting nearly as many of those simply looking for the sun. As with the rest of Spain, the inhabitants are often very religious, meaning the fiestas over the Easter week and weekend prove very popular with tourists, and provide perhaps a better insight into how the locals actually live.
As for food, hotels will often advise on the best places to go for some genuine Spanish cuisine, whether it be paella or tapas. Of course, away from the smaller towns and villages are the more renowned holiday resorts. The recently revitalised Benidorm is always a holiday makers favourite with its golden beaches and thriving nightlife, although resorts in Alicante and Torrevieja are providing stiff competition.
Nightlife
Costa Blanca is home to the famous town of Benidorm, known for its buzzing nightlife that attracts groups of party people year after year. Although Benidorm is definitely the place to be for a big night out, Alicante is also a hotspot for nightlife with plenty of bars and clubs dotted around the city. Some of our favourite bars and clubs in Costa Blanca include:
- Metro Dance Club – One of the most famous clubs in Alicante, Metro Dance Club hosts some incredible house and electronic DJs.
- Disco Bahamas – If you like to mix it up, Disco Bahamas in Benidorm plays all the best tunes, including R&B, hip-hop and house music.
- Klee Kafee – Open most nights, this is the longest running drag cabaret bar in Benidorm, and is known for being a top night out if you’re looking for a night filled with amazing entertainment.
- KM Disco & Dance Club – A top spot for dancing all night in Benidorm, head to KM Disco & Dance Club for a night of partying until dawn.
- Confetti Alicante – Looking for good vibes and great music? Confetti club in Alicante is a favourite for a fun-filled night out that won’t disappoint.
Food & Drink
Discover a variety of cuisine in Costa Blanca, from traditional Spanish cuisine to international delights. Some of our favourite must-try dishes include:
- Paella - The Spanish rice dish that is a favourite all over the world, served with seafood, chicken or vegetables.
- Gazpacho - A surprisingly delightful cold soup. Refreshing on those hot summer days, this savoury dish is a must-try.
- Seafood - You'll find a fantastic variety of seafood to try in Costa Blanca, from red sea bream to monkfish to sardines.
- Pericana - A mix of cod or chaplains, garlic, dried peppers and olive oil, eaten with bread and aioli.
- Crusted rice - It definitely tastes better than it sounds, this rice is cooked with meat, vegetables or fish and is baked with a beaten egg on top - creating the crust.
