- UAE National Day Celebrations (December) - Fujairah joins the rest of the United Arab Emirates to celebrate the country's national day with fireworks, parades, live shows and much more. Expect people to dress up in the national colours and decorations in homes and streets to celebrate the day
- Ramadan Events (March/April) - During the holy month of Ramadan, there will be a load of special events, activities and festivities to celebrate. Look out for traditional iftar meals, live performances and charitable initiatives
What's the best nightlife in Fujairah?
We'll be honest. Fujairah isn't as known for its nightlife as its neighbour Dubai is, but there's definitely a scene so you can get your fix. There are multiple sides to the city, one being a side to get your groove on and have a cocktail, the other to keep it chill, catch a show and go to bed at a time before 2 am.
- Hotel bars and lounges - Some of the top spots in Fujairah to grab a drink might be closer than you think, with a lot of the hotel's bars being popular places to spend your evening. Most of them will offer a great atmosphere, tasty drinks and even live music
- Bowling alleys - If bowling is your style, then Fujairah is home to multiple places that offer some late-night games for you to enjoy. A superb idea for a date night...
- Shisha cafes - These are front and centre in Fujairah's culture, so if you wanna do it like the locals do it and not look like your typical lost tourist then head here and try it out. An easy way to kick back and unwind
What's the food like in Fujairah?
Emirati cuisine is diverse, with a lot of delicious native dishes that have evolved over time due to many different influences from its culture. In Fujairah, you've got a load of opportunities to grab some proper good grub. So, we've picked out some of our fave dishes to watch out for when you're out there living the good ol' holibob lifestyle.
- Al Harees - this is one of the most popular traditional Arabian dishes and is normally eaten during important family events. It's a porridge-style dish that's cooked for over three hours. Eat it topped with a bit of sugar or dressed with chopped onion
- Balaleet - it's a breakfast dish made with an omelette and vermicelli noodles and either sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, orange blossom or saffron added for some extra flavour
- Machboos - a popular rice dish among locals typically cooked with chicken, lamb or fish and flavoured with traditional spices. A top-notch main course and each spot you get it at will put its own spin on it
- Luqaimat - similar to a doughnut, this is a deep-fried dumpling with added saffron drizzled with date syrup or honey to give it a sweet side. This dish is often served during Ramadan
- Lamb Ouzi - Ouzi is essentially rice prepared with spices and then lamb meat added. If you're after the best possible way to eat lamb when out in Fujairah, getting Ouzi is definitely the way to go
