But what we mean is, the Canary Islands have sun literally allllll year round, which makes them a top pic for a last minute jolly too. Beaches? Tons of 'em. Volcanoes? Got a few of those too. Add to that deals on cheap holidays and you're sorted.

You can pick an island that fits your vibe. Tenerife holidays are for donning your hiking gear and posting a pic with the caption 'Life just peaked'. All inclusive holidays in the Canaries mean the only time you have to lift a finger is to wipe that smear of ketchup from the corner of your mouth. And even then, it's optional. Rock that ketchup if you want to. We've got holidays with multiple pools to dunk into, bags of restaurants to choose from and trips to tick all your boxes - from boozy boat rides to volcano tours with lava-fuelled BBQs. Let's be honest, the kids probably couldn't give a shellfish about volcanic landscapes or Canarian markets. But that's where our family holidays in the Canaries come sliding into your holiday DMs (metaphorically), with all their watersliding, ice-cream-guzzling, disco-dancing goodness. Oh, and if you have a watersports enthusiast on your hands (*cough* Dad), then these islands are literally known for their breezy beaches, so you're always guaranteed good windsurfing weather.

Whether you're travelling with hubs, wifey, boyfy or just Gaz from down the road who you've met up with a few times (fair play), the Canaries are a 10/10 choice for a couples' holiday. You've got beach clubs for those cocktails with the fancy straws, massive pools for elegantly dipping your legs into (or dunking each other into, depending how many anniversaries you've had), and adults-only hotels if you're looking for somewhere kid-free. Don't worry, we get it. Sometimes having to listen to Superman for the 50th time kinda kills the mood.

Tenerife: Let's kick things off with the big kahuna of the Canaries! Tenerife is all about that mighty Mount Teide – Europe's tallest volcano, and yes, it's still sleepy (thankfully). Unique fact alert: Tenerife's Carnaval de Santa Cruz is second only to Rio's carnival. Say whaat? Perfect for: Party peeps with a dash of mountain-lovers on the side. Samba in the streets, and hike in the heat!

Lanzarote: Oh, Lanzarote, you Martian beauty! Known for its otherworldly landscapes courtesy of Timanfaya National Park, it's where the moon meets the Earth. Did you know? The island has over 100 volcanoes. Yup, it's LIT! Perfect for: Sci-fi lovers and lunar landscape lunatics. Beam me up, Scotty!

Gran Canaria: Beaches, dunes, forests – Gran Canaria's like nature's smorgasbord! Maspalomas Dunes are its crown jewel, giving Sahara a run for its money. Little tidbit: It's called a "Miniature Continent" for its diverse landscapes. Perfect for: Sun worshippers and nature nomads. From sandy toes to mountain highs!

Fuerteventura:Windsurfing wonderland, ahoy! Fuerteventura rides the waves like a boss, thanks to its winds that are perfect for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Fun fact: It's the oldest Canary Island, geologically speaking! Perfect for: Aquaholics and wind-chasers. Surf, sail, repeat!

Not to be that person, but...all of 'em! Well, all of the main ones anyway - like Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. It's less about finding an affordable island, and more about finding an affordable resort. These islands are all known for their value-packed holiday resorts, and they've all got regular flights from the UK with low-cost airlines. If you're really looking to save some dosh, do your research on the resorts. For example, hotspots like Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos in Tenerife are always going to cost a bit more than the more laidback areas, like Los Gigantes and Puerto de la Cruz.

Just like the characters in Friends, we love all the Canary Islands, because they're all different in their own way. Tenerife's the all-rounder - the *glue* of the Canaries, with beaches for flopping onto and mountain peaks for hiking up. Get you an island that does both.

Then you've got Fuerteventura and Lanzarote - both top picks for wind sports, although Lanzarote has a few more luxury resorts up its sleeve if that's your vibe. And if you're into livelier resorts where you'll be spending less time at the hotel, and more time filling your boots at local bars and restaurants, then Gran Canaria's where it's at.

Good news - the Canaries is a year-round destination, meaning even in winter you'll find most facilities open and operating just the same as in summer! Think markets, festivals, events and local attractions such as waterparks open for business. Things might be a tad busier in summer, but with toasty temperatures and plenty of sunshine during winter, these islands never go out of style.
