Hotel des Celestins

If you look for a base to explore Lyon by foot, this is the perfect spot.  We have stayed in a triple room. Thoug not big, the room was ok for short stays. Everything is well organized and clean enough. Overall condition of the hotel ,is above the average considering the fact that most of the 3-star hotels are old and  not renovated. This is not the case for Hote des Celestins. The rooms are renovated. Sanitary equipment is new. The only thing that was may be not good enough  is that the heating sytem was  little bit noisy.

Decent hotel  in central location

The location of Hotel Celestins is great!  Easy walking distance to most everything you'd want to see.  We booked a small room - back stage, yard side.  The room was very clean and quiet and definitely small but perfect as we were only staying one night.  The bathroom was surprisingly large. The elevator is quite tiny but it worked.  Breakfast was very simple. Staff at the front desk were pleasant and helpful.

Very convenient location

Such a great hotel right in the city center near the metro station and lots of great places to eat and see in walking distance. Very friendly staff and great service. The place I always stay when in Lyon. Breakfast can be part of your stay if you choose.

Highly recommended place in city center

I’m already trying to figure out how to replicate the cafe au lait served piping hot for breakfast every morning. I miss it so much. The soft boiled eggs with baguette and French butter and croissants were so good. I loved that the breakfast was served until noon because we slept like rocks in the most comfortable bed. The room was perfect, the staff are the best and the location cannot be beat. This was our first time in Lyon and wow. We walked everywhere with the exception of taking the metro to Croix-Rousse and walking down, (recommended by the staff) and the views were amazing. You could easily spend a week here and not venture away for more than a 5 minute walk . Of course we walked 10+ miles per day but the restaurants and shops nearby are exquisite. Monsieur P, LePoligone, Cafe Terroir are just around the corner and are outstanding. I loved every bit of this hotel, so French. We arrived at an odd hour and the staff recommended L’epicerie de Ginette for dinner as the service was non stop and we were able to enjoy delicious food and wine after a long travel day. The shower was hot, the room was quiet and the building is gorgeous.
