heaven on earth

Dilapidated, sub-standard place, rude management, and to top it all off serving horrific food. There was no wi-fi in the rooms, so we had to gather at the reception if we wanted to use our phones. We had the worst experience there as a family. Would mot recommend this place to anybody. 
Because a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll attach a few.

Terrible, avoid at all cost!

I have personally never stayed in an all-inclusive but the people I stayed here with assured me that this is a very poor example of one! We paid £700 each for a 7 night stay. 

Highlights: free air con, polite staff, pool open til 7.

Bad bits: food and drink, pool condition, bar, WiFi. 

Food: breakfast, lunch and dinner (NO snacks available at any other times, apart from ice cream which you had to pay for). Quality of food varied but overall was not of the best quality. Tea and coffee available with all meals. There was a drinks machine which dispensed water, sour cherry (didn’t try), and ‘orange juice’ (think it was supposed to be cordial but was pretty much just orange-coloured water!) If you have children that are even slightly fussy eaters, I wouldn’t recommend this place. 

Bar: The ‘bar’ was a room off of the kitchen. When you are lucky enough to be served (sometimes we waited for around 15 minutes for someone to show up) the choice was abysmal! The only drinks available on all-inclusive were cheap brand ouzo, vodka and whisky, plus some fizzy drinks that tasted watered-down. The range of drinks that you could pay for was still pretty small and there were no cocktails of any sort. The bar shut at 10pm which we thought was pretty early. We went at the end of the season so I don’t know if they were starting to wind down, hence the lack of choice perhaps?

Staff: The staff were lovely and very helpful. My sister and her fiancé were given a room without a balcony (there was simply a tiny window so the room had a prison-cell-like feel!). They requested a move and were moved the next day with no questions asked. My sister’s air conditioning didn’t work at first and it was quickly fixed the same day. 

Rooms: I’m used to fairly basic accommodation as I usually do self-catering but the rooms were below average for Greece! Our rooms had a fridge (which wasn’t particularly clean-looking) and that was it (perhaps because it was all-inclusive? I didn’t ask). The bathrooms were quite new but the whole place had a general neglected feel to it. We were pleasantly surprised that the air conditioning was free. No safe in room. These were in a bank in reception. €15 for a week. 

Cleaning: No problems with cleaning other than that once or twice they took away the dirty towels and didn’t replace them so I had to ask for more at reception. The lady that cleaned my room was lovely.

Internet: There was free WiFi advertised, but this could only be picked up near reception and didn’t work in the rooms.

Pool: The pool area was very tired looking with stained sun bed mattresses of various colours. Lots of mismatched beds and parasols. Some of the parasols didn’t go up. The pool didn’t open till 10 which is very late in the day on my opinion! The bottom of the pool was a little cracked and the sides were a bit grimy. 

Location: The hotel is located a short walk from the main Laganas strip. We went near the end of the season so didn’t encounter any noise etc that you’d expect from being that close…I’d imagine that’s quite different in high-season though!

I wouldn’t stay here again :-(

We arrived at around 1pm, was told our room was not available to check in to which was fine, and was given a choice of the 3 twin bed room or a 'nicer' room with a double bed and a twin, so we chose the latter. We asked for somewhere we could change and freshen up and were sent down into a basement area which had no lights and was extremely dirty and had water all over the floor. We went for a walk to the beach and came back around 2:30pm and our room was ready, but not the 'nicer' room we had been promised. The room itself was tiny, when we moved the bed, there was mould underneath it, a massive crack on the bathroom mirror and silverfish lurking in the sink, the fridge was leaking an awful smell and one of us chose to have a shower, and the water was coming into the bedroom! On the balcony overlooked fields and litter and did not smell pleasant. We went downstairs and spoke to reception where the manager said he would move us tomorrow. They also refused to give us our all inclusive bands until 3pm, so we were unable to get anything to drink. 
3pm came around and we collected our bands, and went to the bar, parched, to discover that the only drinks included in an 'all inclusive' package was red wine, white wine, beer, ouzo, vodka and a soft drink. All other spirits were at an extra charge, and no cocktails! 
We emailed a few weeks prior to ask some questions regarding the hotel, as on the website it stated wifi was an extra charge which we would be happy to pay if it meant we could access wi-fi and have contact with our children and partners back home. On this email they said wi-fi was not an extra charge. We enquired at reception again about this and 2 young boys said 'the wifi doesn't work here'. At the same time as asking about wifi we enquired about pool towels, and they said they do not provide pool towels. Referring back to the same email we asked in advance about pool towels and they said they were provided. We also asked for extra pillows to be told we would have to wait until the morning as housekeeping have them. I have attached this email to this correspondence. 
The tipping point for us was the food, we arrived to dinner at 7:05pm when it started at 7pm. There was 3 choices of food, a pork cutlet in gravy, stuffed pepper with rice and plain pasta. All of which was cold. Even the bread was very stale. So we decided we needed to eat out as the food was inedible. At this point we did not want to stay here and were looking for alternative accommodation in the one area of the hotel that the wifi did work - reception. We found a different hotel and had to pay out of our own pockets to stay there. 
The next morning when we were moving our things the manager refused to speak to my 2 friends who were asking for a refund, so I went back after an excursion later in the day. He told me 'you are not going to get anywhere' 'we gave you everything you wanted' which was untrue. They did provide pool towels after 5 hours, they did provide extra pillows but his 'fixes' would not have solved our other many problems. As I tried to explain this to him he said 'I am not talking to you anymore, you talk to your booking agent'. I politely said I would rather speak to you as you are the one we have to get a refund through (as said by one of the love holiday advisors on the chat) and he started to shout at me, grabbed me by the arm and forcibly removed me from the hotel. This is absolutely unacceptable. 
If you want a nice hotel in Zakynthos, do not stay here!
