Hotel Antico Monastero

The hotel was sold as  4star but no way! We did not eat in the stated atmospheric vaulted dining room. Instead on plastic chairs near swimming pool. 
Breakfast was below average. Coffee and juice fairly undrinkable. Bread and pastries poor. 
Evening meal also average although salad buffet was quite good. 
Worst thing was the 30 min walk to the ferry. And 15mins to bus stop. And I’m pretty fit - my friend has to use a walking stick so barely left the hotel. 
Most guests were non English (German or Dutch) which was a shame if you were looking for people to chat to. 
Location was on the grounds of a campsite through which you walked to reach the lake.

Disappointing

Stayed at this hotel June 8th / June 15th. Out of the 7 nights we were booked in for evening meal we only ate in the hotel for the first 3 then because of the poor quality of the food we ate out for the remainder of our holiday .Food standard was akin to school dinners as if it had been cooked and kept warm for a long time served mainly with chips.No tea /coffee facilities in room and not possible to get a kettle on request.On arrival the hotel had no record of our booking through TUI and it took almost 3hours to sort problem out,however we were allocated a junior suite as an upgrade which was a perfectly acceptable room.Disappointed in hotel because of food quality

Poor food standard

I stayed with my family for 10 days in the hotel (3 to 13 of August). We had booked 6 months ago a total of 3 rooms. The surprise on arrival was that our rooms were in an annexe in the middle of the caravans of a campsite (belonging to the same organisation). Noise already early in the morning and smells of common rubbish nearby. The description of our reservation (rooms overlooking a garden in a 4 star hotel) does not match at all with the service offered. The hotel and camping area fit a 2 star level but not a 4 star level. We felt ripped off. A point in favour and of great thanks of our stay was to the restaurant staff, pleasant and helpful.

Decived!

No points for improvement. However, a note about your staff what keeps track of the rooms and the service in the restaurant. You have excellent staff for the rooms and the staff led by Simone in the restaurant is excellent in friendliness and serving us at the table at breakfast and dinner in the evening.
