Hiromas Hostel Ueno

The staff were friendly and helpful. Some speak English well. Check in time at 16.00 but they let me check in at 13.00. The staff told me that the cleaning was not finish yet but my bed was ready. Maybe because they saw me sleeping in their sofa, I was feeling unwell at that time, so I'm grateful for that. I stayed in female dorm room. The bathroom and toilet located in the room. The other guests in my room were so noisy, they packed/unpacked their stuff at night up until 12 PM, using hair dryer etc, eventhough there was a note to keep the noise level after 9 PM. I think the hostel should be more strict about that. I like the neighbourhood. The wifi was fast. The bed and pillow a bit hard for me.

A little hostel in Ueno.

I booked Hiromas hostel in Ueno by mistake, but since I really like Ueno as a neighborhood I didn’t mind. 
The neighborhood where the hostel is nothing special. You will find a couple of convenience stores and restaurants nearby. It’s not as near to Ueno station or park as I would have thought. 
But the worst thing about the place would be the sleeping arrangements which seems to in some strange way amplify the noise from the cubicle next to you. At least mine did so I didn’t sleep more than a few hours each night during my two night stay. 
The common area is kind of posh for a hostel. It actually more looks and feels like a coffee shop except they don’t offer coffee. For the free coffee and the better location I would definitely choose the Hiroshimas hostel in Akihabara over the one in Ueno. 



Nothing special

I've stayed in the female only dorm for 3 nights. The hostel is located very central, only 5 - 7min walk to JR and metro stations, close to Asakusa and Ueno park. The beds are capsule style with a curtain and you have a locker for your valuables inside as well as the locker for luggage outside. Both the mattress and the pillow were extremely firm (but that's typical for most Japanese places). The only downside was the bathroom cleanliness, the showers smelt quite bad because of poor ventilation and the sinks and the floor weren't cleaned regularly. It was manageable but not really ideal because of the smell mostly. Otherwise, cheap and easy for a short stay!

Cheap/easy/good location

It was a really nice and modern Hostel. The bed was comfortable and the showers were clean. There was a nice lounge and the personal was really nice. Definitely a Hostel I would book again. The price was really okay.
