Amaya Kuda Rah
Overview
This small boutique resort is an excellent choice for a holiday-to-remember in the Maldives. With a stunning infinity pool, two restaurants and some incredible experiences available, from authentic cooking classes to swimming with turtles, there's something for everyone here. Not to mention the fact that every villa on the island comes with its own private pool! Now that's luxury.
How far is the nearest beach?
You really couldn't be closer to the beach here - the whole island is surrounded by one!
Distance from Airport
The journey from Malé International Airport to the resort involves a 25-minute seaplane, followed by a 10-minute boat.
Rooms
Choose from a range of villas and suites, either on the beach or over water. Every villa type has its own private pool, Jacuzzi bathtub and also a sun deck with sun loungers, chairs and a table. Plus, tons of amenities like a satellite TV, safe, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, a Nespresso machine, iron with ironing board, a hairdryer and a Bose sound system for playing those chilled out beachy tunes.
Most accommodation comes with both an indoor and outdoor shower (except Water Villas). And if you're looking for extra space, a Family Duplex Villa might be just the ticket, with both a king size and queen size bed, plus extras like two Bose sound systems and comfy cosy bathrobes!
Food & Drink
The resort has two restaurants and one bar, as well as options for in-villa dining (floating breakfast in the pool, anyone?) or the opportunity to enjoy a unique dining experience at any location you choose on the island - now that's the perfect romantic surprise.
Sea Spray is the main buffet-style restaurant, serving international dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner, with veggie options available. Half Lime restaurant is a cosier, smaller venue specialising in a variety of Asian cuisines, from Sri Lankan curries to Pad Thai noodles, and you can even finish off your dinner here with a shisha.
The resort's poolside bar, Glow, is the perfect place to laze away the afternoon with a cocktail or a bite to eat (or both!). It's a chic lounge with both indoor and outdoor seating, serving a variety of drinks and snacks, and the best bit... it's open all day.
Sports & Entertainment
The star attraction on the island is the infinity pool (and, of course, its bar), where you can chill out on the sunbeds whilst you're looked after by the Amaya Kuda Rah team, who will bring you cold towels and drinks throughout the day - bliss. Want to take this pure relaxation one step further? The resort has its own spa, Amaya, where you can treat yourself to a therapeutic massage or facial.
If you're the kind of person who just can't sit still on their hols, there's a fully equipped gym for you to work up a sweat in, as well as loads of activities to try out at the water sports centre. Try your hand at jet skiing, kayaking and paddle boarding or head under the water on a scuba diving or snorkelling adventure with stunning wildlife like turtles and manta rays. You can also book onto a cooking class (extra charge) or head out on an excursion (extra charge) such as a sunset cruise, island hopping or dolphin watching.
Other facilities across the resort include a boutique souvenir shop, medical clinic (extra charge), games room and the Nemo kids' club, which is a great space for the little ones to have fun with coconut painting and beach treasure hunts whilst you take some time to relax and unwind.
Transfers to the Maldives hotels are from Male International Airport via either domestic aircraft, seaplane, or speedboat. Luggage allowance varies depending on transfer type:
Domestic aircraft (20kg hold luggage and 5kg hand luggage)
Seaplane (20kg hold luggage and 5kg hand luggage)
Speedboat (No luggage restrictions)
Immediately upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by either airport or hotel staff, who will escort you to your transfer departure point, and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding transfers and timings. Please note that other flight arrivals or sudden changes in weather might mean you need to wait up to 3 hours before boarding the transfer.
If you’re travelling via seaplane, flights can only operate between 09:00 and 15:00. If you land in Male after 15:00, or if there are any sudden weather changes, you’ll need to stay overnight in an airport hotel. Don’t worry – if this is the case then we’ll be in touch to make the arrangements. It’s also worth noting that, like most holiday transfers, seaplanes will stop at multiple resorts on the way.
