Absolutely shocking hotel , place was so dirty is in need of a serious upgrade. 
Dirty sheets put on the beds that were supposed to be clean. Beds were rotten and uncomfy .  Cleaners skills were shocking my daughter could have done better. Stained blood all along the hand rail up the stairs to apartments. Even the Turks wouldn’t stay here they lasted half an hour. Mel who says she’s the owner who sits lording it and sunbathing when she comes it is Infact her parents who own it. You get 1 dirty rusty hot plate to cook on not enough plates or cutlery. Do not book here as a last resort it’s SHOCKING . Slum of the slum

Worse place I’ve ever stayed

Arrived at 5am and were shocked at how basic our apartment was . The most basic we’ve ever stayed ! One ringed hob for a start How can u cook on that ? We paid for  B&B . Air con was £10 a night so that was £130 straight away . Was needed cause it was absolutely roasting couldn’t have slept in the heat . Pool was lovely but we aren’t pool people . Breakfast Turkish 1st morning ( just gave without any option) next day I asked if they done English ( picture on board of an English breakfast) Mel( owner) no only toast eggs (any way) fair enough … toast n boiled eggs then.. 1 egg!  Next 2 days omelette … after that patched ! Ignored offered nothing at all . Should’ve opened our big Scottish mouths but nah we never . Went out n paid for our full breakfasts ! Mel made us feel awkward the rest of our time there . Rob and the cleaner were lovely and helpful but Mel ( owner) never even looked at us ( as she lay at the pool most days) we couldn’t get out quick enough in the mornings. Saw others come n go sitting EATING their toasties. She perhaps overheard myself and another fellow Scot’s guest ( great couple) discussing the poor offerings for breakfast n the basic offering of accommodation however we did pay for two weeks of breakfast! Need to contact ‘ On the beach ‘ to complain maybe . Anyway this was our 1st visit to Turkey and we had a lovely time outwith Tolan, well MEL…. Couldn’t fault Rob and the wee cleaner woman . Day of leaving she never as much as lifted her head from the sun lounger 😂… felt the love… tell u what ? That is not the way to run a business hen!! Tatty bye MEL!!

Me and my partner and daughter had a fantastic week at the tolan apartments the staff were fantastic especially robbie he couldn't do enough for you brilliant location rooms were basic but spotless can't wait to go back to the tolan apartments next year 

Brilliant tolan apartments 

Before you read my review, let me give you some background on myself, I’ve came on holiday to the Tolan Apartments for over 16 years in a row, I’ve came here since Rhona and Ozzy used to own this and over the time that Mel has owned it also. So I’m not just a person to write this type of review for fun. (We’re a female couple aged 24 & 22) 

We came to the Tolan for 10 nights self catering(technically 8 nights as 2 days were for travel to and from MAN.)

Mel and her friends took up half the sun beds over giving them to the guests, I have pictures to prove this I will attach as I’ve seen their responses to some of the reviews saying their lying, well a picture can’t lie. 
Not only this at 12 midnight on 26/27th June Mel; her friends, Rob and her son, were all watching the football, screaming and shouting after midnight which was completely ridiculous and inconsiderate considering the amount of children at the apartments. 

We were told we can’t bring our own drinks around the pool because it’s self catering(by drinks I mean coke and sprite as myself and my partner don’t drink alcohol), however when we asked for toilet roll we were told we had to buy that ourselves as it’s self catering?! Make that make sense? Hence the title “self catering when it suits”. Our towels, bedding etc weren’t changed throughout our stay here either, plug sockets not correctly put in so was hanging out the walls. 

Rob came right in my face to tell me again I shouldn’t be bringing drinks around the pool, in which I stated it can’t be self catering when it suits you guys and then not for other things, in which Rob shouted Mel over and Mel proceeded to lean over the table and shout at me for this. As I suffer with mental health problems this was extremely uncomfortable and upsetting. 

As far as air con, £10 per day, Rob tried charging us £100 for the air con despite us only actually spending 8 days there, when I tried to explain this to him, he shouted in my face, we then said we’d pay it daily, in which he continued to shout in my face and say I needed to pay it all upfront, again, extremely upsetting and uncomfortable for myself and my partner. Not only this when you pay for the air con, when the cleaner comes in halfway through the day, she turns the air con off, why are guests paying for air con for it to be turnt off and come up from the pool to a boiling room. 

Food at the hotel…. Honestly forget it, throughout our whole time here there was no food in for us to order. Mel, Rob and all Mel’s family and friends cooked food for themselves and whole meals for each other, but when it came to meals and foods for guests there was absolutely nothing in. Likewise for ice cream etc, there was ice cream in for Mel’s son to have but none for guests again. The absolute ridiculous thing about this was, if you brought food from the shop, Mel or Rob would shout at you for eating food from outside the apartments, but they DIDNT HAVE ANY FOOD FOR GUESTS!? So what else did they expect us to do. 

And to top this whole holiday off, we booked this holiday back in Feb, so 5 months ago. Myself and my partner have bad health issues and my partner is registered disabled, I text Mel on WhatsApp in Feb to ensure we have a ground floor room for my partners health, she said to text a month before, I messaged her a month before and she said to message her 2 weeks before, I then proceeded to message her 2 weeks beforehand and a week beforehand, to make sure we had a ground floor apartment for my partners health. When arriving, Rob said here’s your key, I double checked about the room and Rob said here’s your key end of. They’d put us on the TOP FLOOR apartment, Rob didn’t help us with our bags either up the stairs, I had to carry them all myself. (I’ve attached pictures of messages between myself and Mel before I get made out to be a liar). 

I’ve came here with family before and have never been shouted at in this place, by any member of staff, however this time I returned just myself and my fiancée and I think they knew I had no other back up with me; so took it to their advantage to treat us like rubbish on their shoe. 

My advice to the Tolan going forward, honestly sell it, you’re running it into the ground and it’s time you pass it onto somebody who can run it properly. Good luck and all the best for the future of the apartments. 

On our way out leaving the hotel, rob said we owed a £10 bar bill, however we gave him £20 twice and kept the change when we only owed him £15 each time, therefore our bar bill is paid. Make sure you’re not getting scammed out of money as he’ll just keep the change. Not only this rob threatened us on our way out and said if we don’t pay the £10, Mel’s got a friend at the airport and he’ll come and charge you £200 and was threatening us. Honestly that topped us off for this holiday, we’ve now left scared to leave and go home incase something happens to us, as two young girls being threatened on your way home is the worst feeling in the world, our families were worried, we were scared to death, so Mel and rob I really hope your proud of yourself and can sleep at night. 

Avoid at all costs and a message to Mel and rob yous are really low as humans with how you treat people it’s a disgrace, your the scum of the earth after all the hateful, threatening and violent conduct we received off you both. Karma, never forget it, you’ll get yours eventually.

Self catering when it suits & violent conduct towards 2 young girls. Avoid at all costs!
